THE DOCUMENTARY
Tetracycline Staining is the often profound discoloration of the teeth from prenatal and/or postnatal exposure to the antibiotic tetracycline. Green, gray, brown and yellow teeth made for particularly painful childhoods for the Tetracycline Kids of the 50’s – 70’s. Scorned by adults and children who mistook the unsightly birth defect for self-neglect (poor hygiene), the Tetracycline Kids were regularly called out in public as a warning to others that “this is what happens when you don’t brush your teeth.” Unable to smile and spurned when they did, they endured social, emotional and psychological turmoil. Tetracycline Green is out to set the record straight and to warn parents worldwide that this is still going on.
